Welcome to the first edition of the Magic University News! This exciting occasional newsletter is where we will notify you of any updates, special announcements, and upcoming offerings from within Magic University.

Let's begin!

The biggest news of the year - Mark and Nani Wilson have retired from Magic University as of their final class on September 22nd. Mark has been an integral piece of the program since its inception in 1995 when he and David Thorsen launched the first official magic courses within the Academy of Magical Arts. Since then, he has helped guide thousands of our students through their magic education journeys. His contributions are unparalleled and we will do our absolute best to make him proud by continuing his legacy.

This past semester was the first time we've implemented our all-new student cards for non-members! These sleek plastic cards showcase our new Magic University logo (as you can see at the top of this email) and are customized with each student's name and a unique student number. Our front desk attendants are now able to scan these barcodes to check students in. They're also reusable over multiple semesters, so you can keep yours to use as long as you continue within the program. Additionally, once you are assigned a student number, it's yours forever. It will be active during each semester you're enrolled in. And if you ever forget to bring your student card, the front desk attendant will be able to look you up in our database to verify your enrollment. Just don't forget your photo ID!

In September, we also welcomed our students to attend our annual Swap Meet to give access to the incredible magic paraphernalia our vendors have to offer. We had a huge number of students show up and we'll make sure to offer the same access each year from now on. We hope those of you who attended had a great time and walked away with new goodies for your magic collection!

October is usually when we take a bit of a hiatus to really soak in the glory of our iconic "Halloween season" and prepare for the holidays. We hope that all of you are enjoying this extended break and are continuing to practice everything you learned in your classes! During this time, we are still working behind the scenes to improve the program, update the curriculum, and prepare for the new year.

Our new semester is beginning in less than three weeks and we're seeing a lot of you have already signed up. We can't wait to have you here while the entire clubhouse is decked out for the holidays! For those of you who haven't signed up for our November and December semester, you might want to do that while it's fresh in your mind, because there's not much space left. Our introductory classes have been sold out since August and all of the other classes only have a few seats left. It's a popular time of the year for magic!

Here's what we have starting in November:
Introductory Magic - Sundays with Rich Cowley
Introductory Magic - Wednesdays with Rich Cowley
Intermediate Magic - Thursdays with Rich Cowley

Advanced Magic - Mondays with Alfonso
Performance Workshop - Tuesdays
with Alfonso

Some of you who haven't taken a class with us in the last year might notice this new 'Performance Workshop' option. This course has replaced our 'Level 4' class and is focused on perfecting your performance skills. No matter how advanced you are, this is the perfect environment to receive positive and helpful critiques, work out the bugs, play with patter, and - dare we say - prepare for your Magician Membership audition! These classes are much smaller (capped at 8 students each) and have been a real hit every semester. We're even seeing some students come back to this class multiple times, because they are seeing so much improvement within themselves!

Additionally, our entire 2019 schedule is up and available to peruse now. We'll be adding more specialty classes and may make a couple adjustments from time to time, so keep checking back! And as always, we welcome you to email us at magicuniversity@magiccastle.com for any of your magical education needs.

See you in the classroom!
