Students will explore presentation styles that best suit their personality as well as spend time on the importance of writing original patter (including humor or appropriate comedy), including how to link a variety of effects together into a cohesive routine.
The Performance Workshop is geared for AMA Magicians and Magic University Legacy students who have completed Magic 3 and wish to hearse a routine or series of magical material from Magic University, books, lectures, and videos (DVD or downloads) in a supported environment with feedback from the instructor and fellow workshop participants.
This is a performance workshop class, so be ready to present and receive feedback during your first and each class meeting.
This course is designed to provide the skills and knowledge necessary to perfect student performances by transitioning between effects, finding a unique style, learning how to handle crowds, and much more. It will combine instructor presentations, step-by-step explanations, hands-on instruction, group practice sessions, and individual performance.
Course Objectives:
- Practice basic handling techniques for common magic props.
- Identify, Describe, and Demonstrate fundamental transitioning effects
- Identify, Describe, and Demonstrate the key elements of crowd handling.
- Create a unique personal magic style.
- Create, Perform, and Evaluate an original storyline incorporating a magic effect.
All props and materials are provided as needed.
