Since Rich joined the Academy in 1991, he’s “worn a lot of hats” here: Multimedia Committee chairman, Secretary of the Board of Directors, Communications Director, frequent showroom performer, occasional lecturer, and (most recently) instructor in the Magic Castle Academy.
Before moving to California to join us, Rich made his living as a street performer in Philadelphia for almost 15 years, becoming the second-longest-running show of its kind in the country!
His ability to engage, his simplicity of approach, and his unique ‘spin’ on just about every magical effect he performs makes him one of our most admired instructors!

Alfonso became a Magic Castle Member in 1983 and has performed in every one of our venues, totaling close to 2500 performances. He started teaching magic at after school enrichment programs and summer camps. Through the Magic Castle, he was invited to lecture and share his magic creations and performing ideas at magic clubs in the USA, then multiple Lecture tours throughout Asia and Europe. This lead to other professional magicians asking to help fine-tune their routines. With years of teaching experience, we eagerly invited him to be an instructor within Magic University. Alfonso’s loves for magic and his easy going style can help get you on the fast track to performing magic!

Kayla Drescher, a regular performer in our Library Bar and Close Up Gallery, has been seen on the Today Show, Access Hollywood, Penn & Teller’s “Fool Us”, and anywhere (vegan) ice cream is served. Kayla has taught and performed at Tannen’s Magic Camp, various colleges around the country, and for corporate companies like Microsoft, IBM, and CBS Interactive. Her specialties include magic with every day objects, creating a unique performance, and having so much fun! She can currently be seen in the world touring show, “Champions of Magic”. Kayla is excited to bring her encouraging teaching style to the Magic Castle Academy!

Harrison Lampert is an Actor, Comedian, and Magician originally from Philadelphia. He is an alumni of The Groundlings Sunday Company as well as a regular performer at The Magic Castle. He is very excited to be teaching with the Academy of Magical Arts.
